My interest in Criminology stems from my interest in exploring the realities of crime and control, the operation of law and the criminal justice system.
As a law graduate who is currently working as a legal officer in an organization, Criminology has provided me with a range of skills and improve my understanding on the nature, extent, causes and consequences of crime and criminal behavior, and broaden my understanding of the criminal justice process beyond what was written in law - through the criminologists’ len.
I choose to study Criminology at Chulalongkorn University because it was one of a very few university in Thailand that has an independent program dedicated to criminology. I am also taught by academics who are actively engaged in research, are at the forefront of their field and who publish regularly and widely in journals, conference proceedings and books. The class are also relatively small, which maximize the student and faculty interaction in the classroom, provide opportunity for active learning, and encourage students to engage in critical debates.
